The Umbrella Magnolia Tree (Magnolia Tripetala) is a small to medium Magnolia tree that has large, ovate to oblong, shiny green leaves, that resemble the spokes on an umbrella. Small stature, often multi-trunked, with bowl-shaped, creamy white flowers that bloom in spring shortly after the leaves emerge. Each flower has 6-9 petal-like tepals. Flowers are followed by cone-like pink fruits that ripen in fall. Thin, smooth, gray bark.
Plant in full sun to partial shade, in well drained loamy soils.
